On 4 February we observe World Cancer Day 2022 to raise awareness of cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment. Cancer is also one of the biggest health concerns for European workplaces. According to the Roadmap on Carcinogens annually more than 100,000 people die because of work-related cancer.

EU-OSHA is committed to finding ways to better identify occupational cancer risk factors. For this, the fieldwork of the Workers’ exposure survey is carried out in September 2022 and first results are to be published in 2023.

What’s more, the prevention of exposure to carcinogens is the theme of the EU Presidency Conference: Acting on Occupational Cancers, an event on 7-8 March involving many EU-OSHA representatives and including a round table discussion on occupational cancer risk in women and polyexposure.
